It’s been some time since we’ve updated you on all the amazing outreach and events held and supported by Kayla’s List PAC. The Board Thanks you, for your continued support to Kayla’s List PAC. We could not have made the impact that we have without your generous support from across the USA.
There is no substitute for our active involvement in the political process to ensure that our decision-makers are aware of the issues that affect our lives and our families as well as those in the region.
Since, the inception of Kayla’s List PAC, in the 2017-2018 Election Cycle the PAC contributed to 28 Candidates totaling $73,400. We have made significant progress, but there is more work to do.
The 2019-2020 Election Cycle has begun in full swing. As of May 15, 2019, Kayla’s List PAC has contributed to 15 Candidates totaling $43,500.

Jan 16, 2019 – Rep. Mike Waltz, R-FL/6th in Washington, DC. Freshmen Rep. Mike Waltz, R-FL/6th is a Veteran and Former Bush Administration official. Briefed by Lydia Borland he understands the issues of Syrian-Americans. Thanks to Lydia we meet him prior to being elected, he is a member of the Syrian-American Caucus and is on the House Armed Services Committee.
March 3, 2019 – Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC in Pennsylvania
March 3, 2019 – Dr. Rim Albezem hosted Senator Lindsey Graham, R-NC in Newton, Pennsylvania. The Senator is the newest Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and speaks directly with President Trump regarding Middle East issues.
March 4, 2019 – Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-IL/16 – The Co-Chair of the Friends of a Free, Stable and Democratic Syria Caucus sat down with Dr. Zeid Kayali and Lydia Borland to discuss his support for the Caesar bill and the future of a Free and Democratic Syria.
March 4, 2019 – Dr. Monzer Yonzer hosted Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, D-TX/15th for lunch.
March 6, 2019 – Senator Robert Menendez, D-NJ in Washington, DC
Randa Fahmy and Lydia Borland met with Senator Menendez and discussed the Cesar Bill and very supportive and will discuss with Elliot Engle.
March 8, 2019, Lydia Borland attended a breakfast with Rep. Trone, D-MD/ who’s on the Foreign Affairs committee who believes that Assad must go.
March 10, 2019 – Special Event with President Donald J. Trump, Mar-a-Lago Palm Beach, Florida Hayvi and Rim attended. President Trump recognized Rim right away, she thanked him for Idilb and he said “see we saved these people, they are safe now and we will keep them safe.” Rim also mentioned that Senator Lindsey Graham, R-NC was hosted by the community and that is a great advisor on Syria.
March 11, 2019 – Senator Cory Booker, D-NJ – Randa Fahmy and Dr. Rim AlBezem got to question him publicly about Syria policy and Cesar Bill. He explained his position and then they were able to speak privately.
March 15, 2019 – Senator Jim Risch, R – Idaho – Dr. Zeid Kayali and his wife Diana hosted Senator Risch, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Senator Risch remains one of the community’s strongest supporters in the Senate, and has pledged to remain one.
March 21, 2019 – Senator Robert Menendez, D-NJ
March 25, 2019 – Rep. Steve Cohen, D-TN/6th Kayla’s List PAC supported an event hosted by Lydia Borland for Syria Caucus Member and Turkish Caucus Co-Chair Steve Cohen.
March 29, 2019 – Senator Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH in New Hampshire at the home of Dr. Bakr Ghbeis, Alaa Tello, Dr. Muhammad Khamees and Azeddine Fadli with Lydia Borland. Senator Shaheen will be on the lookout with the Study Group report is released, she’s visited North East Syria with a Congressional group and has expressed interest in joining the Syrian Caucus. Senator Shaheen supports the US maintaining a presence in the region and intends to remain engaged and speaking out. James Foley, the first American beheaded by ISIS was her constituent.
April 4, 2019 – Lydia Borland and Randa Fahmy met with Chairman Eliot Engel Senior Staff in DC to discuss a path forward for Caesar, Rep. Eliot L. Engel, D-NY/16th
April 22, 2019 – Sen. Mitch McConnel, R-Ky was hosted by Dr. Ammar Almasalkhi and friends in Kentucky. Tarek, Lydia and Randa traveled to show support and brief the Senator on the efforts of the Community and his continued support to the Cesar Bill.
April 23, 2019 – Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX was hosted by Dr. Zeid Kayali and Randa flying in the speak at the event.
April 23, 2019 – Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-IL/16th was hosted by Dr. Nameer Mardini with Lydia Borland flying in the speak at the event.
April 25, 2019 – Rep. Greg Pence, R-IN/6th to be hosted by Dr. Ghaith Nahlawi, Dr. Wael Bakdash & Dr. Tarek Kteleh was postponed due to unforeseen circumstance with Rep. Pence schedule. New date to be determined.

Educating the Community
